Media turning Mad-Ya...

Electronic media continues to be the most powerful medium to reach out to people. Its got to be precise,in your face and hard hitting, although in reality its anything but that.News channels need to be more sensible rather than sensitive.

Look at the footage the news channels showered on Taslima Nasreen. What has Bangladesh given India other than cross border infiltration and Taslima Nasreen?.Both are headaches of the first order. Is Taslima Nasreen so important that you turn her into breaking news and keep running it the whole day?.Some channels even reported the time she fled from a particular place.why didn't they tell us about her dress, food and the size of her shoes?.

The media behaves like prostitutes by letting bollywood stars promote their movies.Isn't there anything better to report?.The bar is slipping by the day.
When Karan Johar directs a new movie on infidelity NDTV gets him to talk on infidelity on a one hour show. Now people will listen to problems like infidelity from people like Johar and their only qualification is a movie.Travesty of justice one would say.

Every interview Narendra Modi gives eventually follows with questions about Godhra and the riots.Lalu Prasad Yadav is never asked about his multi crore fodder scam neither is Sonia Gandhi questioned on Bofors.Look at the number of reels you dedicated to Nandigram but does the media even bother to ask about Modi's jyotigram electricity scheme. The Indian media calls itself secular. That i believe is a canard below contempt.

Media should be a projection of everyday life.It should be a spotless mirror which projects reality. They should stop concocting news and promoting yellow journalism. No wonder the government is contemplating on getting a media bill passed. If that happens the media will surely be gagged and it will have itself to be blamed because of the fact that it misused the freedom given to it.

Journalism is about courage and conviction not about glitz and glamour.
Those masks of pseudo secularism need to go and hard truths should replace them.

Desi.....

NRI's,especially achiever's are treated like God's in India.Their visit is followed by numerous felicitations and ceremonies. One glimpse of them is enough to send the crowds into a frenzy.

The people are missing an important point over here. Are they super achiever's because they are Indians or because they are NRI's?Would they still have been achiever's if they had stayed in our country?.

Sunita Williams came to India recently.Gujarat and most of India went into a celebration. The media projected her like there was no tomorrow.Did India at least once ask her if she would have achieved all this if she decided to work out of ISRO rather than NASA?.What exactly is India celebrating?.Her love for samosa or because her father is of Indian origin.

Take Kalpana Chawla's case.Would this girl from Karnal have scaled such heights if she had stayed back?.She married an American and was granted naturalized citizenship. That was the sacrifice she had to make to further her career.

Ask Bobby Jindal, would he have become governor if he hadn't converted to Christianity?.
Could Indira Nooyi head PepsiCo if she had stayed back in India?.

Every country needs entrepreneurs. They need to produce them rather than let them fend for themselves in another country.Indian companies are surely making a mark of late but when will we become world beaters?.The best is what everyone yearns to be.

Look at what's happening in China.Mao Zedong is just a one page reference in their history textbooks in school.History textbooks now have references to Bill Gates,Micheal Dell,Steve Jobs and the others. The aim is introduce the concept of entrepreneurship and give children an insight into the lives of achievers.
Back here in India our kids are still learning about "The battle of Plassey" and the "Battle of Panipat".We are struck in the past while china marches forward.

Celebrate the success of NRI's because of their conviction and struggles, not because of their origin.
There are hundred's of children out here who have the potential to succeed.Create an environment that is conducive for learning and growth.
The grass needs to grow out of here, not imported from the Savanna!!!!!!!!
